Fashion is going geeky – Diane von Furstenberg is teaming up with Google for the DVF | Made for Glass collection. Yes, tech just got a whole lot more stylish.
The legendary designer will develop a new range of eye-wearable technology for the internet giant, aimed to launch with her 2015 resort collection. This is the first time Google Glass will partner with a fashion label, making the outcome all the more exciting.
Diane recently revealed to ELLE U.S:
“I’m old enough to have danced at Studio 54 and young enough not to have missed the digital revolution.”
The new collaboration is no big surprise – Diane’s models previously walked the New York Fashion Week SS 2013 runway wearing the glasses. But now Google Glass is about to get a fashionable upgrade with the DVF range.
But what exactly is Google Glass? Well, they’re basically wearable computers with an optical, voice-activated head-mounted display, which allows users to see and interact with information. You can record what you see, take pictures, enjoy the in-your-face reminders and built-in maps, or even watch yourself through your partner’s eyes. Creepy or cool? You decide.
The collection is set to be available online from Google and Net-A-Porter on 23 June for a casual $2,000.
