We can't get enough of the old spray paint + spray shellac combo. Both are ridiculously convenient, and they happen to withstand all sorts of weather, even on your shoes.

First, get your shoes in a row. We had a couple pairs of dull shoes that hadn't been worn in years, primed and ready for an update.

Next, you're going to tape off the part you want to paint. Put most of your shoe in a plastic bag and just let the heel pop out. Use electrical tape (conforms to your shoe better than painter's tape) and attach the bag to your shoe. Be sure to tape at the top edge of the heel firmly.

Now, go outside and spray paint away! You'll need 3 coats of spray paint for each heel.

Finish it off with a layer of shellac and you're good to go.

Let dry for at least an hour (the longer the better) and then get ready to unwrap. Yes, these shoes are like Christmas!

The only obvious event to wear these to is a Color Block Party! But we'll settle for a colorful commute. ;)
