‘It’s only when you stop taking clothes so seriously, that they truly come to life. Have a ball and live a little,’ says Poppy.
1. Inspiration for the shoot?
This story was about taking serious clothes, so to speak, and wearing them with a sense of humour. The big idea is that parties are supposed to be fun, so why should what you wear be anything but that?
2. Hair and make-up?
We wanted to keep the hair and make-up almost ‘undone’, I think the cropped pixie-like wig we chose for Sam (our model) is quirky, yet feminine without being too neat and perfect.
3. Why this model?
Sam has the most incredible energy and personality – being Jamaican she knows how to have fun too. I don’t think she was the predictable choice for the shoot, which makes her perfect!
5. Any hiccups? We took a while to get started – originally we were going to shoot on black backdrops but we ended up swapping in a grey shade at the very last minute. It all worked out in the end though! Here are some images from behind the scenes:
